The purposes of the Whatcom County Search and Rescue Council is to provide oversight.
- Control and maintenance of the Whatcom County SAR building and the WCSAR Council equipment.
- Develop and incorporate policies that apply to all Whatcom County SAR units.
- Provide technical consulting and assistance in the field of search and rescue to the Whatcom County Sheriff and other responsible agencies.
- Encourage the open sharing of rescue techniques and protocols, share the latest developments in equipment, and facilitate the exchange of information about the available resources for rescue operations in Whatcom County.

Whatcom County Search and Rescue Council
Whatcom County Search and Rescue is a 501(c)3 nonprofit nonpublic agency. Although we work with the Sheriff’s Department, we don’t receive public funding . We depend on community support and donations to operate. Most of the equipment used for rescues is personally owned and maintained by members of the various units. The WCSARC members are all volunteers. Funding is provided by donations. Whatcom County SAR Council or it’s members do not solicit phone donations. WCSAR and its units are legitimate and recognized search and rescue team within Whatcom County’s jurisdiction. We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
